David Pere Martínez Oró, PhD
Founder and director of Episteme Social. PhD in Social Psychology.
PhD in Social Psychology. Master’s degree in Social Psychology Research. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Postgraduate qualification in qualitative research in the field of drugs from the University of Amsterdam (2008). Trained in social science research and in the evaluation and quality of social intervention projects.
Technical Director of Episteme Research and Social Intervention. He was coordinator of the Observatory on New Drug Use among Young People (2006–2010). He worked at the Directorate-General for Drug Dependencies of the Government of Catalonia (2010–2014). Since 2008, he has taught in the Psychology and Education programmes at the Open University of Catalonia. He is a member of the Psychology and Speech Therapy Service at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and of the Medical Anthropology research centre at Rovira i Virgili University.
His research has focused mainly on drug use from a sociocultural perspective, with particular attention to processes of normalisation. He has published thirteen books. His most recent is Ludomorfina. El fenómeno de las apuestas deportivas en la juventud española. He is a regular contributor to the media on issues related to drug dependence. He has delivered lectures and training courses for organisations, scientific societies and universities, both nationally and internationally, as well as at professional and academic conferences. He has also advised organisations, platforms and federations.
