General objective:

The general objective is to analyse overmedication (especially with psychotropic drugs) in older people, assess its impact on quality of life and identify the structural factors and gender biases that sustain it. The aim is to formulate evidence-based recommendations and proposals for improving the social and healthcare model.

Summary:

Hippocrates is a three-phase study that aims to describe and understand overmedication with psychotropic drugs in older adults, assess its effects on quality of life and iatrogenesis, identify structural causes and gender biases, and translate the findings into a final report with recommendations and proposals for improvements to reverse overmedication and enhance social and health-related well-being. The study will be conducted through literature review, interviews with professionals and patients, transcription, and qualitative analysis with a gender perspective.
