2022 – 2025
2022 – 2025
The main objective is to coordinate international cooperation between Latin America and the European Union in the field of prevention and intervention against problematic drug use.
COPOLAD, funded by the European Union, assists Latin American countries in strengthening, expanding and improving their various drug prevention and intervention policies. The main objective of the cooperation generated by COPOLAD is to promote and defend the human rights of all citizens, gender equality, public health and public security, among others. Within the framework of the lot awarded to Episteme, technical advice to different countries is envisaged. In this edition, Episteme is coordinating, managing and/or carrying out assignments for the countries of Mexico, Ecuador, Uruguay and Colombia.
In the case of Mexico, Episteme is coordinating the technical advisory commission to develop and implement two technical guides and two toolboxes for intervention and prevention of methamphetamine and fentanyl use, as well as the differential use of the population of sexual diversity. Ecuador has requested support for the development of a telephone helpline protocol, so Episteme is providing extensive training for the professional teams of the 171 line, as well as a needs assessment of the groups and a technical review of the protocols already approved. The country of Uruguay has requested the preparation of two new national plans to address drug use, one specific to the context of drug use in prisons and another for alternative measures. In a complementary way, Episteme is coordinating the technical and graphic revision of the Guide to Addressing Consumption among Populations in Situations of Deprivation of Liberty. Finally, Colombia has requested technical advice for the development of harm reduction devices in the municipalities of Cúcuta, Pereira and Dosquebradas, Medellín and Armenia, as well as a sustainability analysis of the project, which Episteme is managing.
