Main Objective:

To conduct research from a gender perspective on the quality, needs, design, target groups, objectives, scope, implementation, evaluation, and effectiveness of local programmes, projects, and plans for addiction prevention, adhering to criteria of scientific excellence.

Summary:

The Higiea programme addresses the need to enhance the quality and effectiveness of addiction prevention programmes in Spain. Through its implementation, the programme seeks to:

  1. Identify how addiction prevention is structured in Spain and determine the needs that justify various preventive actions, with the goal of improving their quality and effectiveness.
  2. Analyse the responsiveness and adaptability of prevention programmes to the diversity of their target populations, ensuring they align with the current population’s needs.
  3. Examine the design, quality, and potential effectiveness of each prevention intervention from a gender perspective.
  4. Critically review the epistemological foundations of these programmes and evaluate how well they address the lived realities of women.
  5. Illuminate the effectiveness of existing prevention strategies to catalyse structural changes in prevention approaches from a gender perspective, fostering innovation and the adoption of good practices.
  6. Assess efficiency using cost-effectiveness indicators.
  7. Identify both effective and ineffective prevention measures.
  8. Support the implementation of high-quality standards that are both effective and efficient.
  9. Conduct a multi-level identification and analysis of various prevention proposals to enhance their quality and effectiveness.
  10. Identify shortcomings in the evaluation systems of current preventive practices and propose effective evaluation mechanisms to improve their impact.
