Telephone assistance for people experiencing mental health crises and problematic drug use

As part of the Cooperation Program between Latin America, the Caribbean, and the European Union on Drug Policy (COPOLAD), Episteme Social developed a guide for addressing and providing telephone assistance for mental health crises and problematic drug use for the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador.

Online telephone counseling services have become increasingly widespread in recent years, not only as a quick and effective way to convey information, but also as a new way to establish a helping relationship between those who need it and the professionals who provide it.

This reference guide for psychological care professionals provides support for emotional accompaniment in crisis situations related to mental health and problematic drug use. The content focuses on skills for managing these situations from a professional and therapeutic point of view, as well as the framework for action in response to these problems based on scientific evidence and good practices associated with this type of intervention.
