The programme “Technical support in the evaluation of addiction and substance abuse organisations to improve the quality of their prevention programmes” offers technical advice in order to improve the design, planning, execution and, above all, evaluation strategies of organisations with specific needs in these areas.
The programme departs from the hypothesis that high-quality evaluations are the only valid, reliable and scientific strategies to assess the effectiveness, efficacy and efficiency of prevention programmes. In this sense, it seeks to design ad hoc evaluation systems that allow addiction and substance abuse organisations to improve the quality of their preventive programmes.
The main goals are:
- To analyse and provide recommendations for improving the processes of planning, prioritising, defining goals, and executing programmes according to the European drug prevention quality standards (EDPQS).
- To improve the effectiveness, efficacy, efficiency and quality indexes of the prevention programmes.
- To raise awareness among professionals in addiction and substance abuse organisations of the inescapable need to evaluate prevention programmes.
- To contribute to promoting quality in drug prevention in Spain.
Currently, the programme is offering technical advice to the following organisations: Deporte y Vida, the Federación Española de Jugadores de Azar Rehabilitados (FEJAR), the Sociedad Española de Patología Dual (SEPD), the Fundación Patología Dual (FPD) and the Unión General de Trabajadores de España (UGT). Additionally, a “Practical guide for the design, monitoring and evaluation of prevention programmes” is also being developed, which aims to become a useful and easy-to-use tool in order to guide and advice those addiction and substance abuse organisations that aim to improve the effectiveness of their prevention programmes.
