Fentanyl in Spain. Evidence, perceptions and realities
To generate knowledge based on empirical evidence about the reality of fentanyl in Spain.
In recent years, various voices, especially in the media, have hypothesised that Spain is on the verge of an opioid drug crisis, and even that illicitly produced fentanyl could be consumed on Spanish streets. News and images from North America of fentanyl addicts have had an impact on the social perception of Spanish society. Fentanyl is a worrying substance. So far, there is no evidence of illicit use or diversion from pharmaceutical channels. The aim of this study is to analyse the situation regarding the consumption of opioid drugs, possible illicit use and the social perception of fentanyl.
